Benjamin Sandberg will begin his tenure as the new director of the 1890 House Museum on December 2nd. He recently completed his Masters degree at the Cornell Institute for Public Affairs, with a focus on Nonprofit Management. Previously, he worked as a Technical Director, scenic artist, and fabricator with the Oberlin Summer Theater Festival, Berkeley Repertory Theater, and Rooster Productions, among others.
In addition to his artistic career, he has consulted with the Museum of the Earth, and Cuyahoga Arts and Culture, in support of audience engagement initiatives and fundraising development. His time at the DeVos Institute of Arts Management as a research and program development assistant helped shape his approach to managing cultural institutions – he believes in their power to facilitate community development, promote civic engagement, and stimulate economic development.
Jarrett Zeman, our Interim Director, will continue in his former position as Assistant Director. We thank him for his work guiding the museum through its transition period.
